15 Autumn Adventures Autumn is a time when the air is crisp, colors are brilliant and the lake is still warm. Enjoy the Bounty – Elkhart Lake Style! The area offers a wide variety of fall recreational activities and day trip opportunities. A decrease in lake activity after Labor Day offers a haven for silent sport enthusiasts with superb paddling and fishing. Personal guide services are available to the public. An 80′ observation tower at the Sheboygan County Marsh Park offers a spectacular view of the colorful forest. Watch the wildlife in its natural habitat. The Ice Age Trails and Kettle Moraine State Park provide some of the best hiking trails in Wisconsin. Bicycle rental options are available for the entire family. You'll be in for a real treat when you visit Henschel's Indian Museum & Trout Farm. The view alone is worth the trip! Another popular adventure is a trip to Henning's Cheese Company where you can watch cheese being made through viewing windows that overlook the factory. Enjoy sampling cheese, wine and ice cream. Wade House in nearby Greenbush packs the fall season with special events such as its Autumn Celebration. For total relaxation, spend the day pampering yourself at our full-service spa, Aspira. Play in our comfortable pools or walk to the golf course to tee off with friends. Resorts and bed and breakfast inns are just a few blocks from the lake and within walking distance of diverse dining and eclectic shopping options. Elkhart Lake—A Legendary Getaway Specially packaged overnight stays are available at our lakeside resorts. Autumn offers vivid color, quiet kayaking, spectacular sunsets and a peaceful getaway. Select from several Autumn Outings and make these popular day trips part of your adventure. Marsh Park Observation Tower The Marsh Park and Wildlife area are a recreational haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The 13,000 acre park attracts hunters, fishermen, and wildlife/nature observers. Year-round, we have visitors and enthusiasts spanning world-wide admiring the vast impressive nature our area has to offer. Climb the tower for a spectacular view! Wade House Autumn Celebration Weekend Learn about the origins of American Halloween customs, play seasonal games of the period, enjoy hot cider in the stagecoach inn, take a two mile open-air, horse-drawn wagon ride, carve pumpkins and turnips, and listen to classic renditions of scary (but family-friendly) stories in the candlelit Herrling Sawmill. Pumpkin Patch Fall Family Weekend Bring the family to Henschel's Indian Museum and Trout Farm for a festival of fun including Indian museum tours, scenic hayrides to effigy mounds, gift shop, and puzzling corn maze. Enjoy apple cider and caramel apples. Get your pumpkins, squash and gourds. Elkhart Lake Recreation The crystal clear water and gorgeous shoreline offer an exceptional day on the lake. Rent a boat, join a group for a guided kayak tour or fishing trip, or simply relax and enjoy a sunset cruise.
