64 www.randomlake.org Silver Creek is an unincorporated vil- lage located in the southwestern corner of the Town of Sherman. Across the U.S. you'll find a dozen small communities bearing the name "Silver Creek," but only one in Wisconsin. The heart of Silver Creek is its active fire department (organized in 1917) and its fire department aux- iliary. But there was a day when Silver Creek was a commercial cen- ter for area farm folks. Emigrants from pres- ent day Germany made up most of the Silver Creek settlers, arriv- ing about the same time that Wisconsin achieved statehood. Many of those early settler names remain: Risse, Schroeter, Goehring, Gessner, Mueller, Jung and more. In 1851 a split log and mud school building was erected at the intersection of State Highway 144 and County Road DE. In 1872 this building was replaced with a fieldstone structure, and in 1899 another school was constructed at the Silver Creek S i l v e r C r e e k ✪ S i l v e r C r e e k ✪ S i l v e r C r e e k ✪ S i l v e r C r e e k The Silver Creek Fire Department Auxiliary holds a craft sale every April. The Silver Creek Fire Department marches in the Boltonville Rain Days parade.
