Special Events +VM 1FSSZT.POVNFOUT:FBS Celebration 419.285.2184, In 1915, the doors to the Memorial opened to the public without fanfare. One hundred years later we celebrate this momentous occasion. The celebration begins at 11 am with a naturalization and delayed enlistment ceremony on the steps of the Memorial. At 7 pm, a special ceremony will feature former employees, early park visitors, and dignitaries from the National Park Service and Canada. The ceremony will be followed by a patriotic concert by local favorite Westside Steve Simmons and the traditional 4th of July fireworks. +VM Put-in-Bay Independence Day Celebration 419.285.2832, A fireworks program on July 4 at dark is presented by the Put-in-Bay Business Owners and Friends of the Bay. Shot off a barge in the downtown harbor, the aerial display is best viewed anywhere along the downtown waterfront and from Perry's Memorial grounds. This year Camp Perry will host the 2015 NRA World Championship in August. "VH Big Splash Raffle 419.624.0274, Friday night is the Maritime Museum's Big Splash kick-off event with food, beverages, side raffles, 50/50 drawings, and live entertainment featuring Venyx. Saturday is the main event, featuring over $250,000 in cash and prizes including cars and motorcycles. There will also be 50/50 raffles, food, and beverages. 4FQU Perry's Victory Heritage Festival 419.285.2184, The 202nd anniversary of the Battle of Lake Erie is a celebration of history, art, music, Perry's naval victory, and two centuries of peace shared by the U.S., Canada, and Great Britain. A War of 1812 military encampment will be held all weekend, and 1,200 boy scouts camp on the memorial's east lawn for their annual camporee. The Grande Parade will be held on Saturday. 4FQU Challenge Cedar Point Triathlon Featuring full, half, sprint, and kids triathlons, 5K and 1 Mile Glow Run, and Little Rev Adventure Race. It's a family- friendly daytime event (there's even a parade!), but beware of ghouls and terror emerging at night. Both courses include a run through Cedar Point. %FD Walleye Madness at Midnight Port Clinton is known as the "Walleye Capital of the World," so it only makes sense to drop a 20-ft., 600-lb. fiberglass walleye from the sky at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.
