a year-round sports town Green Bay loves its football, so from March to August you can get your fix by checking out arena football with the Green Bay Blizzard. The Blizzard play in the premier Indoor Football League, and are a great option for an affordable family night out at the Resch Center. Also calling the Resch home is the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay's NCAA Division I men's basketball team, the Green Bay Phoenix. Take in games from November through February. Collegiate sport fans can also enjoy the fast pace of the three-time National champion St. Norbert College Green Knights men's hockey games at the Cornerstone Community Ice Center, November through February. Also check out the United States Hockey League Green Bay Gamblers, who have captured two Junior A National Championships, five Anderson Cups, four Clark Cups and seven USHL Eastern Division titles. Catch a game at the Resch Center from late September through April. Plan a night out at the ball park to see the Green Bay Bullfrogs. The Bullfrogs are in the Northwoods League, one of the premier summer collegiate baseball leagues in the country. The Bullfrogs host 34 games at Joannes Park, a picture-perfect opportunity to take in an American past time. In May, over 10,000 runners get cheers from spectators lining the streets during the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon. Runners from all over the globe come to compete in this world-class event, tabbed as Runner's World's 10 most fun events. In June, Green Bay also hosts the Bellin Run, with 15,000 runners making it one of the largest 10K races in the country. Golf the great outdoors at Thornberry Creek at Oneida. Try the Iroquois Nine-Hole Course which is a designated PGA Family Course, or the Oneida Legends 18-hole Championship course. With multiple sets of tees, you can choose to be challenged or enjoy a relaxing round. The legendary open waters of Green Bay and Lake Michigan produce some of the best walleye fishing in the state. South Bay Marina offers "big water" boaters a variety of amenities and services including transient slips and maintenance services. Meanwhile, visiting fishermen will appreciate the area's numerous and well-maintained launch ramps, like Fox Point Boat Launch in De Pere and Bay Shore Park just northeast of Green Bay. 22 | Greater Green Bay 2013 Visitor Guide
